I had the pleasure of attending a career workshop facilitated by Ebru, and I truly can’t say enough about how wonderful the experience was. From the very beginning, Ebru created a warm and welcoming environment that made everyone feel seen and heard. She’s incredibly compassionate, always taking the time to listen and understand each individual’s unique journey and challenges.

Throughout the entire process, Ebru was consistently supportive, patient, and genuinely invested in our growth. I was assigned to Harjeet Inder Singh Sahi, and during our only meeting, he focused solely on asking questions about my resume. I had reached out to WorkBC to request funding for a course, but instead of exploring that further, he asked me, “Let’s say we pay for the course—do you really think you’ll be successful?”

He then referred me to a career counselling workshop, even though I had already explained that I knew the industry I wanted to work in—I just lacked the specific skills, which is why I was seeking support. During the meeting, he simply took notes based on my resume and said we would start from there, but nothing further came from it.

Overall, he was not helpful and, to this day, has not followed up with me. The only concrete information he gave me was about a program where WorkBC subsidizes a portion of an employer’s wage for a limited time via email, which he clearly copy pasted as it says: “During our meeting/phone call” even though we met in person.

The front desk and pre screen team are amazing tho! Super friendly and helpful.

Wishing the case managers would help applicants more.

The case workers and instructors are chill, location is close to public transit, and the workshops are worth the time and effort. Since my first contact with Work BC Midtown's, I have always been very well received by everyone, from the reception to the instructors and my employment specialist. I highly recommend it to everyone who has the opportunity to participate in their programs, which certainly help you prepare for interviews, resumes, professional courses and give you great confidence to continue pursuing your dream to find a good position even with so many difficulties of being in a new country.
